Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7 (NLT)

Sometimes the problem appears so complicated that a solution seems impossible to find. It weighs you down with fear and anxiety, threatening your sleep, interrupting your breathing, and taking away any joy or hope. Recently, I had one of those experiences.

Mark has a variety of health issues and as he ages, they have become more troublesome. Lately, he has taken to falling which in our household violates the Number ONE Rule — Do Not Fall! I cannot help him up so we call 911. Four very nice and strong young men arrive shortly at my door and pick him up. So far, he has managed to fall gently and not hurt anything other than his pride. He is learning new ways to do things he has done all his life to promote safety, which is not easy when you are a creature of habit as he is.

I have a trip planned to visit the grandgirlies in California this Fall. Often we will have family come and stay with him but they are not available this time. What to do?? This was the problem that seemed insurmountable. I took it to Jesus before I went to bed and dropped it in His lap. On Sunday nights, I like to listen to Songs in the Night from Moody Bible Church on Christian radio as I drift off to sleep. The opening of the program that night began with the song God Will Make a Way:

God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness, He’ll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and Earth will fade
But His Word will still remain
He will do something new today

God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

Oh, God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

I wept and with the melody singing in my heart, I went to sleep. The next day I spent the morning researching options but none of them really fit our needs. A friend suggested I post a note on NextDoor. I was open to anything so I composed a simple message asking for help, not really expecting much. To my amazement, I got a response from a nurse who lives in our neighborhood offering to meet us and see where we could work together.

We have met and are in process of getting to know each other. I want to meet her girls, the ages of my two youngest grandgirlies. We will see what God has in mind.

God made a way, one that only He could orchestrate. Thank you, Jesus.
