Faith
and family are the primary focus for Gerry Snyder
Blumberg but she also is passionate about freedom.
She fought the good fight in the political arena
for over 20 years in California guided by the
statement by Edmund Burke "All that is necessary
for the triumph of evil is that good men do
nothing.” Education and life issues were her
hot buttons, particularly while her children were
at home. Time, energy, and money were given in an
effort to make a difference in the rapidly changing
culture. Yet, with age and years of experience in
that often conflicted political arena, priorities
of changes and life became more precious with the
birth of that first granddaughter. Gerry heard
firsthand of the frustrations, fears, and problems
associated with the first few months and years of
raising a family. Now with two more granddaughters
added to the family and the oldest in school, a
whole new set of challenges has been thrust upon
the family. Life is full of visits, phone calls,
emails, and video chats for this long distance
Nana.
Gerry and her husband,
Mark moved
from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area in
California and are now settled in Tucson,
Arizona. The beauty and serenity of the desert
provide the perfect backdrop for Gerry's
speaking and writing.
Time
and again, I cry out in frustration as the events
of life leave me feeling out of control and afraid.
But God has been leading me to study the value in
learning how to wait His way. Marriage, child
raising, divorce, grandchildren, and remarriage to
a man I met on the internet represent just a few of
the times in my life where I needed help. I know
that ultimately God is in control and I can trust
Him completely. Jeremiah 29:11 soothes my heart
daily, “For I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future.” The best way for me to calm down is
to spend time with Him. I want you to know that
same peace and comfort available at a
moment’s call. He is always there for
you.
God
called Gerry to a new ministry through a book
called
Becoming a Woman of Influence
by Carol
Kent. A challenge to serve generated the idea to
volunteer at her local church as a surrogate
grandmother. But this led her to an even greater
need of service as a Mentor Mom for MOPS (Mothers
of Preschoolers). God’s perfect plan began to
unfold.
